I am going to qualify this story with two different responses. First of all, Me and Earl and the Dying Girl is one of my favorite films of 2015, and it’s powered by inspired work from Thomas Mann, Olivia Cooke, and Jon Bernthal. Secondly, since August 5 is National Underwear Day, I can perfectly share this sound bite I collected from my interview with the aforementioned Cooke.

During the roundtable interviews for Me and Earl and the Dying Girl (did I mention how much I love this movie??),  Cooke was asked if she had any personal vices. Her answer:

“A good pair of cotton briefs, because they’re so comfy and I fly all the time, and who has time to wear thongs? Just the essentials – like socks- because I lose socks all the time. I am on the road all the time and I have no socks. The laundry people must think, ‘oh f**k it, she won’t know.’ And I’ve got no socks left . . . Good sturdy underwear is my vice (laughs).

For Cooke’s full answer, listen to the audio below:

Remember, this post is in celebration of #NationalUnderwearDay so please don’t kill the messenger!!
