Concert Seen of the Week: New Politics at the El Rey

New Politics are bringing their dance pop to the El Rey Theater as part of Alt 98.7’s “ALTimate December 2 Remember” Concert Series.

The band recently released their third album, Vikings, on DCD2 Records. The disc has already garnered a pair of singles — “West End Kids” and “Girl Crush.

The group, featuring singer/guitarist David Boyd, bassist-keyboardist Soren Hansen and drummer Louis Vecchio,  first gained attention with 2010’s “Yeah, Yeah, Yeah,” and hit the big time with “Harlem” in 2013.  They’ve toured as an opening act for Fall Out Boy, Pink!, Panic! at the Disco and Paramore.

New Politics are known for their energetic live shows, which showcase live wire frontman David Boyd’s incredible breakdancing. It’s truly a fun experience seeing the group and one that the uninitiated will have little trouble getting into.

Joining New Politics on the bill will be Coleman Hell (of “2 Heads” fame) and up-and-coming rockers New Beat Fund.
