Award winning chef and television star Gordon Ramsay (Master Chef, Hell’s Kitchen) was on hand with his family to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Caesars Palace Las Vegas. The festivities, which took place Friday August 5, included a special birthday pool party with almost 3,000 hotel and special guests. Ramsay hosted the event at the Garden Of The Gods Pool Oasis.
Gordon Ramsay wasn’t the only celebrity to attend the party. Along with a champagne toast, the slicing of a custom five-tier birthday cake with sparklers, the event also featured a horse drawn chariot entrance by Caesar (actually, we’re assuming it’s an actor playing Caesar, not the ruler himself!)
Known for his occasional fiery personality (at least with Hell’s Kitchen), Ramsay was the perfect choice for the next turn of events, as a ceremonial torch run was followed with Ramsay lighting the cauldron.
The evening’s Master of Ceremonies and radio personality Chet Buchanan announced the three finalists for the nationwide Caesars Palace 50th Anniversary Cocktail Competition. Las Vegas’ own J.R. Starkus won the competition with his concoction Lazy Stroll (the mix includes Plymouth gin, Cointreau, chamomile-infused honey syrup, fresh lemon juice, egg white, garnished with dried chamomile flowers).
The Lazy Stroll will be served at select bars at Caesars Palace through the rest of this year.

I’ve interviewed Ramsay several times in the past at several Television Critics Association tours, and he’s always been amiable and forthright. Hopefully he, his family, and all the Sin City revelers had a grand time at Caesars Palace.
