It’s a big week for the Phantasm franchise, as Phantasm: Remastered and the new installment Phantasm: Ravager hits select theaters on Friday. I had the pleasure of interviewing actor/musician Reggie Bannister, who movie fans know as the likable, fun-loving and ultimately courageous “Reggie” from the Phantasm films. Bannister talked to me about the creative process behind being a musician and actor, and the video is found after the jump.
Devoting his life to music and acting, Reggie Bannister initially kept those two practices separated from one another. Working with director/writer Don Coscarelli on the Phantasm films (David Hartman directed Phantasm: Ravager) led Bannister to see filmmaking and crafting music as part of an even more all-inclusive universe.
“I would just call the factor that keeps the creative art forms together is the creative process,” said Bannister. “That’s what it is. It’s creative. Where there was nothing, now there is something. That’s called creation.”
FYI, Bannister’s wife Gigi can briefly be heard at the beginning of the video.
All of the Phantasm films are now available on Digital and On Demand. I review both Phantasm: Remastered and Phantasm: Ravager on this week’s CinemAddicts podcast. Check out this week’s show below, and if you want to enter our weekly Giveaway, please rate and review our show on iTunes.
