There are many ways to proceed in this world, and for a sheltered human being like me, I’ve mainly clung to immediate family, friends, and the cinema. During the Los Angeles press conference for Beauty and the Beast, Emma Watson gave an eloquent answer when asked how one deals with entering college when feeling like an outsider (Watson graduated from Brown University in 2014). Audio is found after the jump.
“What I would say for anyone that feels like an outsider in their own environment, there is a big wide world out there with so many different people with diverse opinions and perspectives and interests. Go out there and find your tribe. Go find your kindred spirits. They do exist. They don’t necessarily come easily. Pursue the things that you love and that you’re really passionate about (and) they’ll be there. But don’t give up. They are there.”
Beauty and the Beast opens nationwide March 17.
