One of the great aspects behind these new installments of Star Wars films is that heroines are front and center, proving the journeys of Rey (Daisy Ridley) and Jyn Erso (Felicity Jones) are just as memorable as Obi-Wan Kenobi and Luke Skywalker. Star Wars Forces of Destiny will feature more adventures of the aforementioned protagonists. Details on the Star Wars Celebration event and action figure surprises below!!
The Star Wars Celebration Orlando event, moderated by Lattes with Leia podcast host Amy Ratcliffe, featured a discussion on how female characters have been an integral and inspiring force (pun intended) in the Star Wars universe. Star Wars Rebels executive producer Dave Fillioni, Ashley Eckstein (“Ahsoka Tano”), Tiya Sircar (“Sabine Wren”) and surprise guest Daisy Ridley (“Rey”) were part of the discussion panel.
One of the cool reveals from the event were the new Adventure Figures by Hasbro to support the impending release of Star Wars Forces of Destiny. Fans were also given a sneak peek at the first Forces of Destiny short, which debuts on Disney YouTube in July 2017.
Star Wars Forces Destiny are animated shorts, running 2-3 minutes, that spotlight new adventures of Rey, Jyn Erso, Sabine Wren, Princess, Leia, Ashoka and others.
A good portion of my week is taking care of my eight month old niece, and being her “manny” is a pure joy. Hopefully she latches on to Rey and Jyn Erso as cinematic heroes, and I’ll make sure that I save a few of these action figures for posterity.
