Brittany Snow Talks “Huge Honor” of ‘Bechloe’ Fan Fiction

People who say movies don’t make a life changing difference probably aren’t cinephiles at heart, and one Pitch Perfect fan doesn’t subscribe to that opinion. In the audio clip below, Pitch Perfect 3 actress Brittany Snow talks about how the #Bechloe fan fiction and the films made a huge impact on a moviegoer.

I had no idea about shipping or fan fiction until several years back during a chat with Camilla Luddington, and it’s wonderful that storytelling and imagination extends beyond what’s actually on the screen. During a recent interview, Snow talked about the fan fiction proposed union between Beca Mitchell (Anna Kendrick) and Chloe Beale (Snow) and how it impacted one particular viewer:

“(The) Bechloe aspect of these movies is really something I had never come in contact before. The fan fiction of it all and these relationships. When I was a kid there wasn’t ships yet. I’m sure there were, but it wasn’t so able to be connected through social media and sharing your pictures and stories. It’s a huge honor to see how much time and effort goes into imagining these relationships.

Recently a girl – I’ve seen her over the years and she’s written to me a couple of times. She’s lovely. She was in Australia and she told me that because of ‘Bechloe’ she was able to realize she was gay and she had the bravery to come out to her parents. She realized that she was feeling something for these two characters that she hadn’t felt before.

That was the coolest feeling because you do these movies and you have connections with people you work with, but you don’t think maybe that was going to help someone in that way. It’s very cool that a little movie could do that.”
