Being a huge fan of the mind-bending time travel thriller Source Code and the under appreciated Warcraft, I’m definitely checking in on director Duncan Jones’ next feature Mute. The picture debuts on Netflix February 23 – check out details on the flick, along with the trailer, below!
Mute centers on Leo (Alexander Skarsgård), a man who is searching for his missing girlfriend through the chaotic dark streets of an unforgiving city. Leo, who’s been unable to speak after a childhood accident, ends up involved int he lives of Cactus Bill (Paul Rudd) and Duck (Justin Theroux), two US army surgeons who are focused on their own personal missions. Set in a futuristic Berlin, the feature was co-written by Jones and Michael Robert Johnson.
Duncan’s revered sci-fi tale Moon, featuring Sam Rockwell as the lead, is a film I’ll try to catch before taking on Mute. I really appreciated the big budget spectacle of the fantasy adventure Warcraft as well as the Twilight Zone-esque feeling of Source Code, and it will be interesting to see what new ideas he’s cooked up with Mute. Check out the trailer (note: there’s some NSFW language in the vid) below:
Are you a fan of Duncan Jones’ work? Feel free to comment and, if you’ve actually seen Moon, would love to hear your thoughts on that film!
