During my ten years living in Downtown Los Angeles’ Bunker Hill District, one of my distinct pleasures was taking a 20 minute morning jaunt over to Little Tokyo for some coffee and a little relaxation. The area has changed over the years, and since my visits to the area have been infrequent, I’m looking forward to “Delicious Little Tokyo,” a culinary celebration that takes place in DTLA July 29-31.

Today marks the opening of JOEY Woodland Hills, and considering Woodland Hills has been a huge part of my life since I moved to nearby West Hills in 1982, my expectations for the restaurant were high yet tempered. I was one of local media members invited to Thursday evening’s preview party, and I was thankfully not disappointed.
