Along with his work on Superstore, Nico Santos is also a stand-up comic who has dates at the Irvine Improv (April 23rd) and The Bridgetown Comedy Festival (4-7). Being a fellow Filipino, I couldn’t help but ask about Balut, a delicacy I’ll never try. Check out the video below to hear his take on Balut and, more importantly, the support he’s received from the Filipino community.
There’s a ton of stuff to love with the upcoming NBC series Great News (I recently checked out the pilot). One of the takeaways is that Nicole Richie, who plays a trend obsessed cable news co-host on the show, has acting chops (anda a natural flair for comedy).
Jennifer Beals, an actress who’s done extensive work on both film and television, plays Special Deputy Director of National Intelligence Christina Hart in Taken. During our interview with Beals and Clive Standen (he plays Bryan Mills, the role played by Liam Neeson in the films), the actress gave a memorable account of a pivotal event that fueled her acting passions.
Yvette Nicole Brown (Community, The Odd Couple) is the host of the new Syfy program Cosplay Melee. Each hour long battle has expert cosplayers creating and inhabiting awe-inspiring costumes. Though this is a competition series, don’t expect Brown’s comments to be reductive. In the video below, she explains how her mom’s “Be Nice Gifts” continue to influence her approach to work.
Art often imitates life and vice versa, and Nick Gehlfuss (Chicago Med) experienced that firsthand while hanging out with Jesse Lee Soffer (Chicago P.D.). What started out as a potentially tragic incident ended as a rather memorable evening for the actors. Check out the Find Your Seen video below for the full story.
The series finale of Grimm takes place March 31 (NBC, 8/7c) with an episode simply and aptly titled “The End.” Whether you’re fine with the end or get depressed with some of the character’s fates, at least Bitsie Tulloch and David Giuntoli will live happily ever after. Check out the video below, as Tulloch talks about how Grimm was a “life changing experience” for her and Giuntoli (the two are engaged).
Real estate mogul Sean Conlon helps property flippers in dire need of help on CNBC’s new program The Deed: Chicago, and during this year’s TCA sessions I had the chance of asking him about the secret to his success. Check out the video below to gain a bit more insight into Conlon’s modus operandi.
Severide’s (Taylor Kinney) bond with Chicago is tried and true and that apple doesn’t far from the tree with Kinney. The Chicago Fire star has lived in the city for five years, and though he’ll always have a traveling spirit, he’s found a new home (figuratively and literally). Check out the video below, Kinney talks about his bond with the Windy City.
Alfred Hitchcock’s 1939 film Jamaica Inn airs tonight on KCET as part of its Cohen Film Classics program. I attended a Tuesday screening of the film that was held at the SilverScreen Theatre in West Hollywood. Cohen Media Group and Cohen Film Classics host Charles S. Cohen served as the evening’s host. More details on the film and the event is found after the jumpl
