Though the kind folks at ABC Family and OK! Magazine plied bloggers, media members, and TV enthusiasts with champagne and mini-me cupcakes, the relaxed reception, held in Beverly Hills’ RealD Theatre, wasn’t the star of the show. The Kevin From Work pilot was screened at the gathering, and as first impressions go, the show did not disappoint.
Nevermen, a band that first collaborated in 2006, are finally releasing their self-titled debut album in October via Ipecac Recordings. A Soundcloud stream of their song “Tough Towns” has just been released, and it’s an excellent primer to the seamless and ambitious collaboration among members Tunde Adebimpe(TV on the Radio), Adam “Doseone” Drucker(Anticon/cLOUDDEAD) and Mike Patton (Faith No More/Tomahawk).
I am going to qualify this story with two different responses. First of all, Me and Earl and the Dying Girlis one of my favorite films of 2015, and it’s powered by inspired work from Thomas Mann, Olivia Cooke, and Jon Bernthal. Secondly, since August 5 is National Underwear Day, I can perfectly share this sound bite I collected from my interview with the aforementioned Cooke.

Released in 1923, The Prophethas sold over 100 million copies in forty languages, as its message of humanity has resonated on a universal level.
Opening in New York and Los Angeles August 7, The Diary of a Teenage Girl (101 minutes, R) features a star-making performance from Bel Powley as Minnie Goetze, a teenager who hungers for sex and love in 1976 San Francisco. Alexander Skarsgård (True Blood, Melancholia) is Monroe Rutherford, the boyfriend of Minnie’s mom who also ends up as Minnie’s first lover.
The Church are heading to North America for a 27 date tour starting August 7 in Toronto, ON, with their last stop coming September 10 in Los Angeles (The Roxy). The outfit are co-headlining with The Psychedelic Fursfor 20 of those performances.
